Profile:

We are L'BalAfriqueModerne from New York. L'Bamme was created in September 2006. What we see as our vision is to show complete musical and choreographic commentaries on “life’s fetters and pleasures” and receive the feedback of the viewer.

With our central focus of dance, we heavily involve singing, musical and the visual arts placing them all together in a theatrical or film setting. We explore the human psyche, giving its pathologies movement and a comedic or satirical undertone. To simplify, we turn thought processes and behavior into artistic movement and expression. Our ideas for projects come from personal experience, history, headlines and the jewel of imagination. For example, we enjoy making movement out of a mental picture of envy in Opposition and conformity in Structure.

L'BalAfriqueModerne currently has five members. Presently we have been performing at our independent venues throughout the Hudson Valley. We anticipate performing on a grander scale with more props, better lighting , sound and more members. We look forward to establishing ourselves within the artistic network in New York and growing beyond our hometown limits in the months and years to come.
